2 Ordinal numbers are used to place things in order:
first, second, third, etc.

3 In Spanish, only the first 10 ordinal numbers are used often.

5 Ordinal numbers follow definite articles and precede nouns:

6 When primero and tercero precede a masculine singular noun, drop the “o”.
Soy el primer corredor en terminar. but: Soy la primera corredora en terminar. Enrique es el tercer esquiador en terminar. Teresa es la tercera esquiadora en terminar.

7 To abbreviate, or to write as numbers:
first 1o = primero 1a = primera 1os = primeros 1as = primeras 1er = primer second 2o = segundo 2a = segunda 2os = segundos 2as = segundas The letters should be placed in the upper right hand side of the numbers, not the lower right as you see here. The
