2 DIRECT OBJECT PRONOUNS You use a pronoun when you don’t want to keep repeating the noun. They are used to say: me us you *it/him/her *them

3 For example: Shut the door. vs. Shut it. I bought shoes. vs. I bought them. *You are replacing the noun with a pronoun to make the sentence shorter and to avoid repetition.

4 I bought new shoes. I paid $40 for the shoes. The shoes are red and black. I bought the shoes at Foot Locker. I love the shoes! The shoes are so cute! Do you like the shoes?

5 (Direct Object) Pronouns: Me Nos Te *Lo/La *Los/Las

6 For masculine singular nouns = “lo” For masculine plural nouns = “los” For feminine singular nouns = “la” For feminine plural nouns = “las”

7 When speaking in the PRESENT TENSE, Pronouns are placed: BEFORE a conjugated verb, or Added on to the END an infinitive.

8 Comemos tacos. => Los comemos. Yo abro la puerta. => La abro. Hago la tarea. => La hago. Voy a comprar el sándwich. => Voy a comprarlo. Lo voy a comprar.

9 Práctica 1) We eat them every day. (las papas fritas) 2) I drink it with lunch. (el refresco) 3) I study it every day. (la biblia) 1)Las comemos todos los días. 2)Lo bebo con almuerzo. 3)La estudio todos los días.

10 Pronouns with COMMANDS: Affirmative = put it on the END of the verb Negative = put it BEFORE the verb Examples: Come la manzana. = Eat it. = Comela No comas la manzana = Don´t eat it. = No la comas

11 Práctica: Cut them. (las verduras) = Cortalas Don’t cut them. = No las cortes. Cook them! (las galletas) ¡Cocinalas!

12 1. I cook it. (el pollo) 2. I am going to cook it. 3. Cook it! 4. Don’t cook it!
