1 Subject Pronouns and Regular –AR Verb Conjugation The most important grammar presentation you will have this school year.

2 First, let’s talk about the subjects. Subjects are the person or thing in the sentence that performs the action (verb). Without a subject, you do not have a complete sentence. Subjects come in two forms: singular (one person or thing) and plural (more than one person or thing).

3 Before we get started, make sure that you have TWO DIFFERENT COLORS for the rest of the presentation and that you use the same two colors for today and tomorrow.

6 Now open the doors! We are going to be writing on the backs of the doors, not on the solid part in the middle.

9 Let’s practice. On your white board write the correct subject pronoun for the situation.

18 So… what do you remember? What is the subject of a sentence? Subjects come in ____ form and ____ form. Singular forms are on the _____ side of the conjugation box. How do you say “you” when addressing an authority figure? How do you say “they” when it’s a guy and a girl? Which “you all” are we using in class?

19 But a subject is only part of a complete sentence! The other (more important) half is having a… CONJUGATED VERB.

20 Saquen sus “libritos de notas” y ábranlos a la página 15. Uds. van a escribir algunas definiciones.

21 Conjugation… what is it? The act of assigning a to an infinitive. SUBJECT Infinitives… remember those? They show ACTION ONLY and end in -IR-ER-AR

22 The verbs we are working with are REGULAR –AR verbs. PATTERN. These verbs are considered “regular” because they follow a The “pattern” is what you are going to write on the solid block of 6 squares in your foldable.
