Hace + (time) + que + (present tense) = How long something has been taking place Hace tres años que estudio español. I have been studying Spanish for three years. Hace dos horas que estamos en la clase. We have been in the class for two hours.

3 I have been studying for 4 hours =
Hace cuatro horas que estudio. I have been living in Santa Maria for 15 years. Hace quince años que vivo en SM.

4 Hace + time + que + preterite =
