1 The Present Perfect Tense Refers to the recent past: past actions the are still true Key phrase: Have; Has

2 When is it used? We use this when speaking about something that was true in the past and is still true. EX. I have lived here for 10 years. We also use it to indicate that an action was completed recently. Ex: I can’t go out to dinner because I have eaten.

3 It is a compound tense, so you need 2 verbs instead of 1 First you use “HABER” which means “to have” (don’t confuse it with tener, which means to have, to possess) HeHemos HasHabéis HaHan

4 Then you use a Past Participle Ex: eaten, lived, drank, danced, watched To form a past participle: -Drop the ending of the verb and replace with: -ar verbs= -ado ex. Hablar > Hablado -er verbs= - ido ex. Comer > Comido -ir verbs = - ido ex. Vivir > Vivido

5 Hablar (I have spoken, etc) He habladoHemos hablado Has habladoHabéis hablado Ha habladoHan hablado Yo he hablado con Roberto I have spoken with Robert Tú has estado aquí por diez minutos. You have been here for 10 minutes
