Repaso Breve

Two-Form Verbs In Spanish, some verbs have only two forms. I like to call these verbs two- form verbs. The most common two-form verb is gustar, or to like.

Gustar The two forms of gustar that we use are the él, ella, Ud. (gusta) and ellos, ellas, Uds. forms (gustan). *There are NO other verb forms that we use with two-form verbsONLY 3 rd person singular and plural! With gustar and other two-form verbs, we always use one of the following IOPs before the conjugated verb: me nos te le les

Gustar – to be pleasing to Me gusta-I like (sing.) Me gustan-I like (plural) Nos gusta-We like (sing.) Nos gustan-We like (plural) Te gusta-You like (sing.) Te gustan-You like (plural) XXX Le gusta-He/she likes (sing.) Le gustan-He/she likes (plu.) Les gusta-They like (sing.) Les gustan-They like (plural)

Gustar – to be pleasing to The verb is conjugated depending on whether whats being liked is singular or plural. Ejemplo: I like soccer. (Soccer is pleasing to me) Me gusta el fútbol. ***In this case, we used the el/ella/Ud. form of gustar because the word fútbol is singular. Ejemplo: I like dogs. (The dogs are pleasing to me) Me gustan perros. ***In this case, we used the ellos/ellas/Uds. form of gustar because the word perros is plural.

Gustar To say someone does not like something, just put the word no in front of the IOP. For example: No me gustan las matemáticas (I dont like math).

Prepositional Phrases to emphasize and clarify A mí A ti A él A ella A usted A nosotros A ellos A ustedes Dont use Yo or Tú These go before the IOP A ti no te gusta A ella le encanta

Práctica 1. We like history. A nosotros nos gusta la historia. 2. I do not like baseball. A mí no me gusta el béisbol. 3. He likes hamburgers. A él le gustan las hamburguesas. 4. Do you like cats or dogs? ¿A ti te gustan gatos o perros?

Más Verbos Here are other verbs that work like gustar: Interesar-to interest Aburrir – to bore Importar- to be important to Encantar-to love (a thing) Molestar-to bother Quedar – to fit

Más Práctica 1. Soccer interests me. A mí me interesa el fútbol. 2. Movies bore them. A ellos les aburren las películas. 3. Dogs bother her. A ella le molestan los perros.. 4.
