3 El rico necio – The rich fool Lucas 12:13-21 La ocasión – 13, 14, “que divida la herencia conmigo”. Jesús no se metió en tales asuntos, Jn. 18:36. The occasion – 13, 14, “divide the inheritance with me.” Jesus didn’t get involved with such, Jn. 18:36.

4 El rico necio – The rich fool Lucas 12:13-21 V. 15, Advertencia: Tenga cuidado, guardarse de toda avaricia. Hay diferencia entre “vivir” y “tener posesiones”. ¿Lo entiendo yo? V. 15, Warning: Be careful, beware of covetousness. There’s a difference between “live” and “have possessions.” Do I understand this?

5 El rico necio – The rich fool Lucas 12:13-21 Muchos son muy pequeños con riquezas. Otros son muy grandes sin riquezas. Many are very small with riches. Others are very great without riches.

6 El rico necio – The rich fool Lucas 12:13-21 No condenado por ser rico. Abraham, Job. Dios prospera su pueblo. Deut. 8: 7-10, “buena tierra, no te faltará nada” Not condemned for being rich. Abra- ham, Job. God prospers His people. Deut. 8:7-10, “good land, lack nothing”

7 El rico necio – The rich fool Lucas 12:13-21 No se acusa de ser deshonesto. No defraudó a nadie. No perezoso. Trabajó con diligencia. Ocupó gente. Not accused of dishonesty. Didn’t de- fraud anyone. Not lazy. Worked with diligence. Employed people.

8 El rico necio – The rich fool Lucas 12:13-21 El tuvo que ser hombre inteligente para ser exitoso, pero ignoraba muchas cosas importantes. He had to be an intelligent man in order to be successful, but he was ignorant of many important things.

9 El rico necio – The rich fool Lucas 12:13-21 No sabía nada de generosidad. No sabía nada de responsabilidad hacia los necesitados. Efes. 4:28. ¿Nosotros? He knew nothing of generosity. He knew nothing of responsibility toward the needy. Eph. 4:28. How about us?

10 El rico necio – The rich fool Lucas 12:13-21 Entre más el Señor le multiplicaba sus bendiciones, más creció su avaricia (egoísmo). ¿Somos culpables de esto? The more the Lord multiplied His bless- ings on him, the more his covetous- ness (selfishness) grew. Are we guilty?

11 El rico necio – The rich fool Lucas 12:13-21 Equívocos serios de este hombre: 1. “Pensaba dentro de sí” en lugar de consultar con Dios. Y yo ¿con quién? Serious mistakes of this man: 1. “He thought within himself” instead of consulting with God. How about me?

12 El rico necio – The rich fool Lucas 12:13-21 2. “No tengo dónde guardar mis frutos” pero sí tenía dónde guardarlos – el mundo está lleno de necesitados. 2. “I have no room to store my crops” but he did have “where” to store them – the world is full of needy people.

13 El rico necio – The rich fool Lucas 12:13-21 3. Era ciego a la fuente de sus bendi- ciones – dice “yo”, “mis” repetidas veces, no da gracias a Dios. 3. Was blind to the source of his bless- ings – says “I”, “mine” repeatedly, does not give thanks to God.

14 El rico necio – The rich fool Lucas 12:13-21 Si no reconocemos a Dios como la fuente de bendiciones, no las usare- mos conforme a la voluntad de Dios. If we do not recognize God as the source of blessings, we will not use them according to His will.

15 El rico necio – The rich fool Lucas 12:13-21 YO trabajé, YO lo gané, es mío, y lo voy a gastar para mí mismo. Esto es no ver más allá de uno mismo. ¿Qué digo yo? I worked, I made it, it’s mine, and I’m going to spend it on myself. This means not looking beyond one’s own self. What do I say?

16 El rico necio – The rich fool Lucas 12:13-21 Esto es precisamente lo opuesto a Luc. 9:23, “niéguese a sí mismo, tome su cruz cada día, y sígame”. This is precisely the opposite of Luke 9:23, “let him deny himself, and take up his cross daily, and follow Me.”

17 El rico necio – The rich fool Lucas 12:13-21 4. No miraba más allá de este mundo. Hizo todo sobre la base de la vida en este mundo. Millones hacen lo mismo. 4. He did not look beyond this world. Did everything on the basis of this life in this world. Millions do the same.

18 El rico necio – The rich fool Lucas 12:13-21 “Esto haré” – tomó una decisión a favor de sí mismo, sin tomar en cuenta la necesidad de otros. “This I will do” – made a decision in favor of himself, without taking into account the need of others.

19 El rico necio – The rich fool Lucas 12:13-21 Graneros mayores, para tener más para mí. Almacenar (guardar) en lugar de dar, ayudar, repartir. Larger barns, in order to have more for me. Store (keep) instead of giving, helping, distributing.

20 El rico necio – The rich fool Lucas 12:13-21 Vivir solamente para el hombre exterior (no para el hombre interior): “repósate, come, bebe, regocíjate”. 2 Cor. 4:16-18. Live only for the outward man (not for the inward man): “take your ease; eat, drink, and be merry." 2 Cor. 4:16-18.

21 El rico necio – The rich fool Lucas 12:13-21 Jactancioso. “Muchos bienes tienes guardados para muchos años”. Prov. 27:1; Sant. 4:13-15. Boastful. “You have many goods laid up for many years.” Prov. 27:1; James 4:13-15.

22 El rico necio – The rich fool Lucas 12:13-21 Contraste entre “muchos años” y “esta noche”. Sal. 39:4-6, “sepa yo cuán frágil soy”; 90:10; 103:15, 16. Contrast between “many years” and “this night.” Ps. 39:4-6, “that I may know how frail I am.” 90 : 10; 103:15, 16.

23 El rico necio – The rich fool Lucas 12:13-21 No era dueño de sus graneros, mucho menos del tiempo. Creía que tenía control sobre los dos. He was not the owner of his barns, much less of time. He thought he had control over both.

24 El rico necio – The rich fool Lucas 12:13-21 Dijo “mi alma”, pero el Señor se la llevó. Ecles. 12:7. Dijo “mis bienes” pero los perdió todos. Eccl. 2:18, 19. He said “my soul” but the Lord took it. Ecles. 12:7. He said “my goods” but he lost all of them. Ecles. 2:18, 19.

25 El rico necio – The rich fool Lucas 12:13-21 El mundo dice: “Hombre exitoso, sabio, ahorrativo”. Dios dice, “Necio” porque Dios aborrece la avaricia. The world says: “Successful man, wise, thrifty.” God says: “Fool” because God hates covetousness (selfishness).

26 El rico necio – The rich fool Lucas 12:13-21 Fue llevado a un mundo donde no hay placer. Luc. 16:24, “Estoy atormentado en esta llama”. He was taken to a world where there is no pleasure. Luke 16:24, “I am torment- ed in this flame.”

27 El rico necio – The rich fool Lucas 12:13-21 Conclusión: “Así es el que hace para sí tesoro, y no es rico para con Dios”. Mat 6:19-21; 1 Tim. 6:17, 18. Conclusion: "So is he who lays up treasure for himself, and is not rich toward God.“ Mt 6:19-21; 1 Tim 6:17,18
