2 What is an adverb clause?
Adverb clauses are introduced by certain conjunctions and answer questions that state or imply… When? Where? How? Why? Etc… The subjunctive is used in dependent clauses that express uncertainty, doubt, purpose, anticipation, etc.

3 ESCAPA (Always use subjunctive after main clause)-
En caso de que- in case Sin que- without Con tal de que- provided that Antes de que- before Para que- so that A menos que- unless THESE ADVERB CLAUSES ARE ALWAYS FOLLOWED BY THE SUBJUNCTIVE!!!!!!!! 100% of the time!

4 El subjuntivo con más cláusulas adverbials con eventos anticipados
*Las conjugaciones adverbials a contuación requieren el subjuntivo si en el momento de hablar se anticipa el evento de la cláusula subordinada: What? The following set of conjunctions require the subjunctive if uncertainty, doubt, anticipation or indefiniteness is implied—otherwise the indicative is used (either present, preterite or imperfect) 

5 Conjunctions with the special rule!
aunque- although/ even though como- how, however cuando- when de manera que/ de modo que – so that después (de) que- after donde- where en cuanto/ luego que/ así que- as soon as tan pronto como- as soon as hasta que - until mientras (que)-while

6 RULES OF USE! *Usa el subjuntivo cuando el evento en la cláusula subordinada es anticipada (use subjunctive if main clause is in future tense or a command) *Usa el indicativo si el evento de la cláusula subordinada ya sucedió o es habitual. (no subjunctive if main clause is present, preterite or imperfect tenses!)

7 Ejemplos Prepararé los huevos como digas
- I will prepare the eggs how you say. (S) Preparé los huevos como dijiste I prepared the eggs how you said to. (I) Siempre preparo los huevos como dices I always prepare the eggs how you say to.(I)

8 Más ejemplos Aunque cueste mucho dinero, lo voy a comprar.
Although it may cost a lot a money, I am going to buy it. (I don’t know how much it costs.) Aunque costó mucho dinero, lo compré. Although it cost a lot of money, I bought it. ¡Cómpralo aunque cueste mucho dinero! Buy it even though it may cost a lot of money.

10 Ejemplos Future Tense Command Present Indicative
Te llamaré cuando llegues a casa. Command ¡Llámame cuando llegues a casa! Present Indicative Te llamo cuando llegas a casa. Preterite/Imperfect (rely on rules of when to use each tense here! Te llamé cuando llegaste a casa. No estudié aunque tenía mucho tiempo.

11 Práctica: Llena cada espacio con el verbo apropiado.
Ella lo hizo tan pronto como nosotros le ________________________(pagar). Siempre estudio mucho cuando ___________________ (haber) un examen grande. Ellos van a vestirse después de que _______________ (terminar) su programa favorito. (present subjunctive—future in 1st clause!) ¡Despiértate en cuanto _________ (oír) el despertador! (present subjunctive—tú command in 1st clause) pagamos (preterite) hay (present indicative) termine oigas

12 Subjunctive Tense in Relative Clauses
The subjunctive is used in relative clauses if the person or thing in the main clause is indefinite, nonexistent, or desired but not yet attained!

13 Existent vs. Non-Existent
Use the subjunctive if there is not certainty of existence. HINTS- indefinite article- Busco un novio que.. In a question ¿Hay alguien que….? Use the indicative if there is certainty that something exists. HINTS- definite article- Me gusta el restaurante que… Haber and Tener may be used with indefinite articles and still use indicative. Tengo un amigo que…

14 Subjunctive / Indicative
Ella busca un apartamento que sea cómodo y barato. No encuentro a nadie que pueda ayudarme. Quiero vivir en una casa que sea perfecta. Ella tiene un apartamento que es cómodo y barato. Encontré a un hombre que puede ayudarme. Quiero vivir en la casa que está cerca de mi escuela.
