Past participles are often used as adjectives. Remember that adjectives agree in gender and number with the nouns they describe. Hay varias ventanas rotas en el edificio. There are several broken windows in the building. El latín ya no es una lengua hablada. Latin is no longer a spoken language. Encontré unos mensajes escritos en francés. I found some messages written in French.

Past participles are also often used with the verb estar. El banco está abierto. The bank is open. Mi tarea está hecha. My homework is done. Los documentos están firmados. The documents are signed.
