19 In Spanish when we are using colors to describe something we have to make sure that the color ‘agrees’ with the word it describes. The spelling of the color can change depending on whether the word it describes is masculine, feminine, masculine plural or feminine plural. Let’s look at some examples: Actividad 3: Adjectival endings…making them agree!

20 The word for a skirt in Spanish is.. UNA FALDA ¿Masculino o femenino? FEMENINO The word for red in Spanish is… ROJO Does this agree with ‘una falda’? NO How could we make it agree? UNA FALDA ROJA Actividad 3: Adjectival endings…making them agree! ONE RED SKIRT

21 TWO RED SKIRTS Two skirts in Spanish is.. DOS FALDAS ¿Masculino plural o femenino plural? FEMENINO PLURAL The word for red in Spanish is… ROJO Does this agree with ‘dos faldas’? NO How could we make it agree? Actividad 3: Adjectival endings…making them agree! DOS FALDAS ROJAS

22 Rules: If a Spanish color ends in ‘O’… Add an ‘A’ to make it feminine and an ‘S’ to make it plural. If a Spanish color ends in ‘A’… It is the same for both masculine and feminine words and we just add an ‘S’ to make it plural. If a Spanish color ends in ‘E’… It is the same for both masculine and feminine words and we just add an ‘S’ to make it plural. If a Spanish color ends in ‘L’… It is the same for both masculine and feminine words and we just add an ‘ES’ to make it plural.
