2 What is a direct object? The person or thing receiving the action of the verb I throw the duck. DO – duck (What is the thrown? The duck) He opens the books. DO – books (What is opened? The books)

3 What is a direct object pronoun?
DOPs are used to avoid repeating nouns that have already been mentioned. I throw the duck and she catches it. He opens the books and reads them.
