2 El Objetivo: ¿Cómo usamos el pluscuamperfecto?
La Actividad Inmediata: Traduce esta frase al inglés: Ella ha tenido el desayuno esta mañana. ¿En qué tiempo verbal está la frase? Lee la siguiente frase: She had already gotten up when her mother called her to eat breakfast. ¿Cuál es la diferencia entre esta frase y la frase en la parte 1?

3 PLUSCUAMPERFECTO VS. PRESENTE PERFECTO
We use PRESENTE PERFECTO to 1. Talk about a recent past: Hemos tomado desayuno esta mañana (we have had breakfast this morning) 2. Talk about what we’ve ever done (sometime in our lives): He tenido un novio (I have had a boyfriend)

4 PLUSCUAMPERFECTO VS. PRESENTE PERFECTO (CONT.)
We use PLUSCUAMPERFECTO to 1. Talk about an action that happened before another one. You will usually find another verb in the sentence in the preterite or imperfect: a. Cuando nuestra madre llegó, ya habíamos tomado desayuno (when mom arrived, we had already had breakfast) b. Yo sabía que tú habías estudiado (I knew you had studied for the exam) **You will usually find “ya” = “already” with this verbal tense

5 Cuando Lilus llegó a la casa de su tío, él ya se había ido.
La primera acción, en el pluscuamperfecto, se puede presentar con palabras como ya y todavía no. La segunda acción se puede introducir con “cuando” y un verbo en el pretérito y “al o antes de” con un infinitivo. (segunda acción) (primera acción)

7 El pluscuamperfecto se forma con haber en el imperfecto + el participio pasado del verbo que quieras usar. Imperfecto de haber Participio pasado había habías habíamos habíais habían cantado comido vivido

8 EJEMPLOS: Ya ____________, cuando su madre la ______ a desayunar.
She had already gotten up when her mother called her to eat breakfast. Todavía no ___________ cuando su madre le _______ el desayuno. She still hadn’t gotten dressed when her mother served breakfast. A Lilus le __________ muchas muñecas (al) (antes de) nacer. They had given (gifted) Lilus many dolls (at) (before) birth/being born.
