In order to conjugate an –AR verb in the present tense (HABLAR – to speak), take off the –AR and add these endings to the verb stem: hablohablamos hablashabláis hablahablan

In order to conjugate an –ER verb in the present tense (COMER – to eat), take off the –ER and add these endings to the verb stem: comocomemos comescoméis comecomen

In order to conjugate an –IR verb in the present tense (VIVIR – to live), take off the –IR and add these endings to the verb stem: vivovivimos vivesvivís viveviven

VERBOS IRREGULARES en el PRESENTE de INDICATIVO IRREGULAR VERBS IN THE PRESENT TENSE Verbs that do not follow the regular pattern of – AR, – ER, and –IR endings are called IRREGULAR VERBS. The endings for these verbs must be MEMORIZED. BAD NEWS: Many of the most commonly used verbs are irregular. GOOD NEWS: Many are irregular ONLY in the 1 st Person Singular (Yo) Form and follow a pattern
