14 JOHANN S. BACH AÑOS DE VIDA 65 años de vida se murió en 1750.

15 BIOGRAFÍA A partir de estos años, los primeros del siglo XVIII, Bach estaba ya preparado para iniciar su carrera como compositor e intérprete. Una carrera que puede dividirse en varias etapas, según las ciudades en las que el músico ejerció: Arnstadt (1703-1707), Mühlhausen (1707-1708), Weimar (1708-1717), Köthen (1717-1723) y Leipzig (1723-1750).

16 Durante los últimos veintisiete años de su vida fue Kantor de la iglesia de Santo Tomás de Leipzig, cargo éste que comportaba también la dirección de los actos musicales que se celebraban en la ciudad. A esta etapa pertenecen sus obras corales más impresionantes, como sus dos Pasiones, la monumental Misa en si menor y el Oratorio de Navidad. En los últimos años de su existencia su producción musical descendió considerablemente debido a unas cataratas que lo dejaron prácticamente ciego.
