Days of the week To ask the day (not date) in Spanish you say, ¿Qué día es hoy? You answer Hoy es ________. To ask for tomorrow, replace hoy with mañana. Notice that the days of the week are NOT capitalized except at the beginning of a sentence. The first day of the Spanish- language calendar is lunes (Monday) and it ends on domingo (Sunday). –Saturday and Sunday are truly el fin de semana
