In variations of this game a solid rubber ball (weighing up to 9 lbs!) would be hit by hip, elbow or forearm by the players. In all versions they were not allowed to use their hands. The object of the game would be to keep the ball in play and get it through a stone hoop. This hoop was very small and bones were often broken in the game due to the weight of the ball. The ‘prizes’ varied. Here are some ends to the game: Winners get all the possessions of the losers. Losers are sacrificed to the gods. Winners are sacrificed to the gods.
