Articles In English, we always use “the”, “a” or “an” when we are talking about something. “the boy”, “a boy”, “an apple” …you get the idea

Articles In Spanish on the other hand, we do the same, but those articles have genders, masculine and feminine: El = “the”, un = “a, an”; masculine La = “the”, una = “a, an”; feminine For example, la chica, is the girl… …we use LA and not EL because chica is feminine. If it were chico, we’d use EL.
