8  There is a group of verbs that have an irregular stem in the preterite.  One such verb is HACER  Its stem becomes HIC in the preterite.  These irregular verbs also have a different pattern in the preterite: Irregular preterite pattern 1.-e 2.-iste 3.-o 1.-imos 2.(-isteis) 3.-ieron
