Information about Ecuador It is located in South America, bordering the Pacific Ocean at the Equator, between Colombia and Peru. It is slightly smaller than Nevada. Its climate is tropical along the coast, becoming cooler inland at higher elevations; it is tropical in Amazonian jungle lowlands. It has frequent earthquakes, landslides, volcanic activity, floods, and periodic droughts.
