11  Possessive adjectives tell you who owns something or describes a relationship between people or things  In Spanish, possessive adjectives agree in number with the nouns they describe.

14  Comparatives are expressions used to compare two people or things.  In English, comparative adjectives are formed by adding –er to the end of a word or by using more, less, and as.  Juan is taller than his sister.  She is more interesting than him. **Remember to use the verb ser with characteristics.

15 más….que = more….than  Mi abuela es más alta que mi abuelo.  *The adjective agrees with the first noun.  Translate: His father is shorter than his mother.

16 menos … que = less….than  La clase de inglé es menos divertida que la clase de ciencias.  Translate: My sister is less serious than my brother. tan…como = as…as  Nuestra maestra es tan inteligente como los estudiantes.  Translate:  Their grandfather is as nice as their grandmother

17  Irregular comparative agree in number with the first noun.  ***Do not use más or menos with these comparative words.  mayor older  menor younger  mejor better  peor worse  Mis tías son mayores que mi tío. Translate:  Spanish class is better than math class.

18  When a comparison does not involve an adjective, use these phrases. más que = more than  Me gusta ir a la biblioteca más que al gimnasio. Translate:  I like to eat pizza more than hamburgers.

19 menos que = less than  Me gustan las papas fritas menos que las verduras. Translate:  I like to eat chicken less than tacos. tanto como = as much as  Me gusta escuchar musica tanto como jugar deportes. Translate:  We like to study as much as to learn.
