3 Jesús dijo: Les aseguro que a menos que ustedes cambien y se vuelvan como niños, no entrarán en el reino de los cielos. Por tanto, el que se humilla como este niño será el más grande en el reino de los cielos. Y el que recibe en mi nombre a un niño como éste, me recibe a mí. Jesus said: “Unless you change and become like little children, you will never enter the kingdom of heaven. Therefore, whoever takes the lowly position of this child is the greatest in the kingdom of heaven. And whoever welcomes one such child in my name welcomes me.” Matthew 18: 3-5 Mateo 18:3-5

4 ¿De qué forma podemos colocar a la niñez en el centro de la comunidad?
Imaginemos a un niño o una niña… ¿A quién le importa la vida de este niño o niña? Our challenge for the World Weekend of Prayer is ‘how do you put the child at the centre of life in your community?’ Imagine a child. They’re grinning with uncombed hair, scuffed shoes from playtime and gripping their favourite toy. They’re standing there, alone. Now place them on a road in a village, town or city you know well. Consider everything that makes up that community – shops, a school, the doctors’ surgery, the youth club, parks, a church, homes, families. The child becomes distressed – they feel lonely, hungry, scared, unwell. They look around anxiously – is this a neighbourhood that would help them, and if so, to whom might they turn? Amongst the sea of faces of commuters, shoppers, workers and passers-by: who cares?

5 La niñez que ha quedado huérfana y/o abandonada.
En estos momentos cientos y miles de niños y niñas están atravesando alguna situación de riesgo: La niñez que ha quedado huérfana y/o abandonada. La niñez sin acceso para la educación. La niñez que sufre alguna enfermedad. La niñez que ante los ojos de la sociedad ha sido invisibilizada. This scenario might sound like something from a film, but this is very much real life for tens of thousands of vulnerable children around the world – children who, through no fault of their own, live every day without the love and support of others. Children whose parents have died or walked out on them. Children who are too poor to go to school or receive healthcare. Children who, in the eyes of the authorities, simply do not exist.

Trabajo infantil En el mundo más de 215 millones de niñas y niños se dedican al trabajo infantil, 115 millones de ellos lo hacen en nuestra región en constante riesgo Intercedamos por la niñez que se encuentra en riesgo debido a la ausencia de su registro legal y por causa de la explotación laboral. Medio ambiente Cada año alrededor de 3 millones de niños menores de cinco años, mueren debido a enfermedades relacionadas con el ambiente (OMS). Familia 132 millones de niños de todo el mundo están en condición de orfandad (UNICEF) Oremos por los niños, niñas y adolescentes que están viviendo este tipo de situaciones. Iglesia Según la organización Compasión Internación, solamente el 15% de los recursos y del tiempo efectivo de programación de las iglesias evangélicas, se destinan a los niños y de los adolescentes. Educación En América Latina cerca de 117 millones de niños y niñas no se encuentran estudiando o están en riesgo de abandonar la escuela (Unicef). Intercedamos para que Dios permita que las iglesias puedan priorizar su trabajo con la niñez y adolescencia. Salud En América Latina, la mortalidad infantil de la niñez indígena es un 60% mayor que aquellos que no son indígenas (Cepal). Violencia Cada año más de 6 millones de niños, niñas sufren abuso severo en los países de la región y más de 80,000 mueren a causa de la violencia doméstica. Pidamos a Dios que se traiga salud y protección a la niñez que requiere respuesta inmediata a su actual condición de vida. We live in a world where preventable diseases like diarrhoea and pneumonia take the lives of 2 million children a year who are too poor to afford proper treatment Pray that children would be healthy and free of illness We live in a world where each year as many as 275 million children worldwide witness domestic violence Pray that children would be protected from harm

10 Oremos Dios Padre Te damos gracias porque nos has llamado formar parte de una comunidad. Ayúdanos a poner a tu servicio nuestras habilidades, dones y talentos, como parte del cuerpo de Cristo que formamos somos, y así podamos ofrecernos a las personas más vulnerables. A prayer for the World Weekend of Prayer Father God We thank you that you’ve called us into community. Help us to bring together our different individual skills and abilities, as the body of Christ, to reach out and help those who are vulnerable where we live. We pray that, through the power of your Holy Spirit, you would help us create communities that are child-friendly – safe, caring, loving places where children can flourish and reach their God-given potential.

11 Te lo pedimos en tu nombre… Amen.
Oramos para que, por medio del poder de tu Espíritu Santo, formemos comunidades amigables con la niñez. Comunidades seguras, amorosas donde ellas y ellos crezcan alcanzando el potencial que les ha dado. Hoy colocamos en tus manos la vida de la niñez que se encuentra en situación de riesgo en todo el mundo, quienes sufren condiciones de soledad, hambre, miedo y otros males – protégelos Señor y permite que sus vidas puedan ser transformadas a través del amor de tu pueblo. Te lo pedimos en tu nombre… Amen. We place in your hands today, Lord, all those children at risk around the world who feel lonely, hungry, scared, unwell – protect them, we pray, and bring about a lasting change through the love of your people. In your name we ask this. Amen
