2 Uses of the imperfect subjunctive
If the verb of the main clause is in the present or future tense, the present subjunctive is used in the dependent clause. If the verb of the main clause is in the preterite, imperfect or conditional tenses the imperfect subjunctive is used in the dependent clause.

4 Será necessario que lo sepamos para mañana.

5 La profesora insistió en que hablaramos en español.

7 Formation of imperfect subjunctive
The imperfect subjunctive is formed by dropping the -on ending of the ellos, ellas from of the preterite tense of the verb. Then add the following endings: a amos as a an
