2 ¿Recuerdas? When the first verb in the sentence expresses uncertainty, you often put the second verb in the subjunctive. Ex. Quiero que estudies para el examen. (yo) quiero (tú) estudies Indicative Subjunctive I want you to study for the test but I’m not certain that you will do it. note

3 ¿Recuerdas? When the first verb in the sentence expresses certainty, you often put the second verb in the Infinitive. Ex. No quiero tomar la foto. Indicative Infinitive There’s no doubt that I don’t want to take the picture. note

4 ¿Recuerdas? If the subject of the first verb is different from the subject of the second verb, the first verb will be in the indicative (present tense) form where as the second one will be in the subjunctive form. Ex. Quiero que saques la basura. (yo)quiero (tú)saques Indicative Subjunctive

5 ¿Recuerdas? If the subject of the first verb is the same as that of the second verb, then the second verb stays in the infinitive form. Ex. Quiero ver más de la ciudad. I want to see more of the city. Quiero  indicative Ver  infinitive

6 If the first verb expresses uncertainty, then the second verb will be in the _____ form.
Subjunctive If the first verb expresses certainty, then the second verb will be in the _____ form. Infinitive If the subject of the first verb I different from the subject of the second verb, then in what form should the first verb be? Indicative What about the second verb? If the subject of the first and second verb are the same, in what form should the first verb be in?

7 Subjunctive or Indicative
1. Prefiero que vayas a la playa. Subjuntive 2. No quiero comer aquí. Indicative 3. Sugiero que regreses a la escuela. Subjunctive 4. Ojalá que encuentres tu bolsa. 5. No me gusta correr.

8 Isabel: No quiero ir al museo. (no doubt, you are certain)

No quiero pedir la cuenta en el restaurante. (No doubt) Quiero que mamá pida la cuenta en el restaurante. (Uncertainty) Llevar la ropa a la tintorería (mi hermano) No quiero llevar la ropa a la tintorería. Quiero que mi hermano lleve la ropa a la tintorería. or (Quiero que mi hermano la lleve.)
