The Present Progressive Tense
To emphasize what is happening right now. This is a verb phrase. Format: Estar in Correct form Present participle (-ing) -ar = verb stem + -ando -er/-ir = verb stem + -iendo + 1.Yo estoy estudiando. 1. I am studying. 2. Tú estás hablando. 2. You are talking. 3. Ana está comiendo una manzana. 3. Ana is eating an apple. 4. Nosotros estamos poniendo la mesa. 4. We are setting the table.

½ stem change ( o – u, e – i) for –ir stem changers
No stem – changing for –ar + -er verbs because you are just using the stem of the verb. However, ½ stem change ( o – u, e – i) for –ir stem changers dormir = durmiendo vestirse = vistiéndose servir = sirviendo Ir = yendo Verbs with 2 vowels (leer) leiendo leyendo ¿Qué están haciendo Uds. ahora? What are you all doing now? Estamos escribiendo apuntes. We are writing notes. No estamos durmiendo en clase. We are not sleeping in class. We’re reading the screen. Estamos leyendo la pantalla.

Pronouns attach to the end. Add an accent (just like commands).
¿Dónde está mi libro? Estoy leyéndolo ahora. Lo estoy leyendo ahora. Haz tu tarea, por favor. Estoy haciéndola ahora. Sigue las instrucciones y vas a entender. Estoy siguiéndolas pero todavía no entiendo.
