7 La hora con “y” For the first thirty minutes, We follow this equation:

“Es la” is for times that are singular (1) Ejemplos… - 2:05 PM - Son + las + dos + y + cinco - “Son + las” b/c 2 is a plural time - “dos” b/c it’s the hour - “cinco” b/c it’s the minute

9 A few special things… If it is exactly on the hour (like 8:00 or 1:00), we use “en punto” to say “o’clock” or “on the dot”. If it is 15 minutes after the hour (like 8:15 or 1:15), we use “y cuarto” instead of “y quince”. It is a quarter after the hour. If it is 30 minutes after the hour (like 8:30, 10:30, or 1:30), we use “y media” instead of “y treinta”. It is half past the hour.
