4 What is ELAC? ¿Que es ELAC?
ELAC is an advisory committee composed of parents of English Learner students. ELAC es un comité de padres de estudiantes que aún no dominan el idioma Inglés.

5 Why take part in ELAC? ¿Porque formar parte de ELAC?
Joining ELAC is an opportunity to meet parents of other English Learners and along with school staff, principal and district administrators provide your input in regards to our the English Learners Program. Formar parte de ELAC le brinda la oportunidad a conocer a padres de estudiantes que aun no dominan el idioma ingles así como también trabajar en conjunto con el personal escolar, la directora y la administración del distrito para proveer su opinión referente a los programas de para estudiantes que aun no dominan el idioma ingles.

6 ELAC Requirements Requisitos de ELAC
Each California public school, grades kindergarten through 12, with 21 or more English learners must form an English Learner Advisory Committee (ELAC). Cada escuela pública de California, con grados desde kindergarten hasta el 12vo, y que tenga 21 o mas estudiantes clasificados como Aprendices del Inglés Como Segundo Idioma (o ELs) deben formar un Comité Consejero de Padres de Estudiantes Que Aun No Dominan el Idioma Inglés (ELAC).

7 ELAC Requirements Requisitos de ELAC
Site/district Parent Advisory Committees are required for districts receiving Title I, Title III funds (as well as EIA-LEP/SCE Carryover funds for and ) Tanto el Comité Consejero de Padres de Estudiantes Que Aun No Dominan el Idioma Inglés en la escuela (ELAC) como el Comité Consejero de Padres de Estudiantes Que Aun No Dominan el Idioma Inglés del distrito (DELAC) son requeridos si las escuelas/distrito reciben fondos de Título I, Título III, así como también fondos remanentes de EIA-LEP o SBE para y 2015.

8 ELAC Officers and Duties Oficiales de ELAC y sus deberes
President / Presidente Preside at all meetings of the ELAC Sign all letters, reports and other communications of the ELAC Presidir en todas las reuniones del ELAC. Firmar todas las cartas, reportes y otras informaciones del ELAC. Vice President / Vicepresidente Support the president ELAC assigned duties Substitute for the president in his or her absence Representar al/la Presidente(a) o al miembro asignado. Sustituir al/la Presidente(a) si éste(a) está ausente.

Secretary / Secretaria(o) Keep minutes of all regular and special meetings of the ELAC Promptly transmit to each of the ELAC members and DELAC chairperson copies of the minutes of ELAC meetings Serve as custodian of the ELAC records Maintain a list of the address, phone number, and term of office of each ELAC member Mantener las actas de todas las reuniones regulares y especiales del ELAC. Comunicarse con puntualidad y enviar copias de las actas a los miembros del ELAC y copias de las actas de las reuniones del ELAC al/la Presidente(a) del DELAC. Mantener actualizados los registros del ELAC. Mantener una lista de direcciones, teléfonos y términos de mandato de cada miembro del ELAC.

15 CELDT/ELPAC Update Actualización de las pruebas CELDT/ELPAC
English Language Proficiency Assessment/California English Language Development Test Pruebas del Desarrollo del ingles de California The CELDT and ELPAC are state mandated tests that assesses students’ listening, speaking, reading, and writing skills with the purpose of determining their level of proficiency in English. All students who speak another language apart from English are required to take this test. Las pruebas CELDT y ELPAC son pruebas exigida por el estado de California y cubre las áreas de escuchar, hablar, lectura y escritura con el propósito de determinar el nivel del domino del idioma ingles. Es requisito que todos los estudiantes que hablan un idioma aparte del ingles tomen esta prueba estatal.

17 Reclassification Process Proceso de Reclasificación
To be reclassified, a student must: Earn a grade of C- or better in a grade level English class Demonstrate proficiency on the Demonstrate proficiency on the Student’s Oral Language Observation Matrix (SOLOM), which is completed by the student’s English teacher Cada estudiante debe: Recibir una calificación de C- o mejor en su clase de ingles Demostrar el dominio de la prueba ELPAC Demostrar el dominio en el SOLOM que es llenado por el maestro/la maestra de ingles

18 Needs Assessment Survey Encuesta de Necesidades
This questionnaire will help us better serve the needs of our ELL students and ELL parents. Esta encuesta no ayudara en mejor asistir a nuestros estudiantes que aun no dominan el idioma ingles y a los padres de estudiantes de estudiantes que aun no dominan el idioma ingles también.
