3 Double Negatives The Spanish language uses double negatives all the time. Whenever the word No goes before the noun, you must follow it with a negative word. Example: Yo no quiero nada

4 Algo (something) Nada (nothing)
Algo and Nada are types of Pronouns. They answer the “who or what” question in a sentence. They never change gender They are used the same as in English. Example: ¿Quieres comer _______________ para el almuerzo? No, no quiero comer ____________para el almuerzo.

Alguien (someone) Nadie (no one, nobody) Also types of Pronouns. (who or what) They do not change gender Used the same as in English Example: ¿Quieres pasar un rato con _________________________? No, no quiero pasar un rato con ______________________. Example 2 : You do not have to use a double negative if the negative word comes before the verb Alguien navega por Internet Nadie navega por Internet

Algún/alguno(a) (Some, any) Ningún/ninguno(a) (none, not any) These do change gender according to the noun they are modifying. Alguno becomes algún when used before a masculine singular noun Alguno becomes alguna when used before a feminine noun. Example: Singular ¿Conoces algún sitio Web cómico? ¿Conoces alguna persona cómica? Example: Plural ¿Conoces algunos hombres cómicos? ¿Viste algunas pinturas?

7 Algún/alguno(a) (Some, any)
Ningún/ninguno(a) (none, not any) Ninguno changes to ningún in front of a masculine noun. Example: (singular) No conozco ningún sitio Web cómico. No conozco ninguna persona cómica You will RARELY use ninguno in the plural form. The only time you will see it is with a noun that cannot be singular. Example: (Los jeans) No compro ningunos jeans. Typically you will use it like this… ¿Jugaste algunos videojuegos ayer? No, no jugué ningún videojuego ayer.

8 Siempre (always) Nunca (never) Often come directly before the verb. Example: Yo siempre uso la computadora Mi padre nunca usa la computadora.

9 Yo quiero comer o papas fritas o pizza. (o jugo o leche…)
o…o (either…or) Ni…ni (neither…nor) Example: Yo quiero comer o papas fritas o pizza. (o jugo o leche…) You almost always use both “ni’s” when responding. No quiero comer ni papas fritas ni pizza.

10 También (also) Tampoco (neither, not either) Must agree with the positive or negative intent of the sentence. Example: Yo quiero ir una fiesta con mis amigos Yo quiero ir tambien! Yo no quiero ir a la fiesta Yo no quiero ir tampoco!
