3 ¿Cómo se conjugan los verbos REGULARES en el Pretérito?
Meta (Goal) de Hoy es: REPASAR ¿Qué es el PRETÉRITO? ¿Cómo se conjugan los verbos REGULARES en el Pretérito? ¿Cómo se conjugan los verbos IRREGULARES en LA FORMA DE “yo” en el Pretérito? EMPEZAR a aprender las conjugaciones de verbos con cambio radical. Es una de dos formas del pasado. Esta forma se usa para actividades completadas/terminadas. La otra forma se llama el IMPERFECTO. El IMPERFECTO se usa para las actividad repetidas, continuas o “USED TO”. 6 Verbos con Cambio Radical = Stem-Changing Verbs
An INFINITIVE is the STEM of a verb plus the infinitive ending –AR, –ER, –IR. What is the STEM of a verb? The STEM of a verb is what is left after you TAKE OFF the –AR, –ER, –IR. For Present Tense, you learned to add the Present Tense endings to the stem: HABLAR minus the –AR = Habl- -o -amos -as -áis -a -an Habl- is the… Stem to which you add the endings: COMER minus the –ER = Com- -o -emos -es -éis -e -en Com- is the… Stem to which you add the endings: VIVIR minus the –IR = Viv- -o -imos -es -ís -e -en Viv- is the… Stem to which you add the endings:

El proceso es muy similar a la conjugación de verbos en el presente, pero tiene un cambio en la raíz (the stem). What you need to know about stem-changing verbs: 1. There are 4 types of stem-changes: EIE like QUERER (to want) OUE like PODER (to be able to) EI like SERVIR (to serve) UUE* JUGAR (to play) is the ONLY verb with this type of stem-change NOTE that the stem-change will occur in the stressed syllable. FOR EXAMPLE: Preferir (eie) I prefer = Prefiero

8 Stem-changing verbs are also called “BOOT or SHOE” Verbs
because they have a stem-change in all forms EXCEPT nosotros & vosotros: Yo Nosotros Tú Vosotros Él, Ella Ellos, Ellas Usted Ustedes 3.
