What the heck is this used for?
It’s a mood (indicative, imperative, subjunctive), not a tense (present, past, future). English examples: The doctor recommends that John take 2 pills a day. If I were taller, I wouldn’t wear heels. The verbs don’t match with the subjects! Subjunctive! In Spanish it’s usually used for doubts, change of subject, impersonal expressions, possible but not certain, and after verbs of emotion.
