2 Title I Program/Programa de Titulo 1
NCLB law requires that Title I Schools conduct an annual meeting with parents to Provide information to parents regarding the benefits of the Title I program Share other information with parents about the ‘Parent’s Right-to- Know’ section of the law. Title I is a federal program funded through the No Child Left Behind law. Title I is designed to help students achieve proficiency on the challenging Texas academic achievement standards. 4 State Assessment/LA EVALUACION ESTATAL
TEA developed the STAAR assessment to measure what students have learned. The STAAR is used in grades 3-8 and End of Course assessment is used in grades 9-11. 5 State standards/LAS NORMAS DEL ESTADO?
The academic standards in Texas are the TEKS – Texas Essential Knowledge and Skills – which TEA has developed for all grades and core academic subjects tested on the STAAR tests. Classroom teachers use the TEKS as standards for their curriculum, instruction and assessment. Los estándares académicos en Texas son los TEKS – Conocimiento y Habilidades Esenciales de Texas - que TEA ha desarrollado para todos los grados y materias académicas básicas analizadas en las pruebas del STAAR. 7 Title I Program and the Standards Programa de Titulo 1 y las normas
Title I is designed to help students served by the program to achieve proficiency with the TEKS, STAAR and End of Course assessments. You have the right to know… Whether the teacher has met state qualification and licensing criteria for the grade levels and subject areas in which the teacher provides instruction. Whether the teacher is teaching under emergency or other provisional status through which state qualifications or licensing criteria have been waived. The baccalaureate degree major of the teacher and any other graduate certification or degree held by the teacher, and the field of discipline of the certification or degree. Usted tiene el derecho a saber ... Si el maestro ha cumplido con los requerimientos del estado y normas de licencia para los grados y materias en las que el maestro proporciona la instrucción. 10 Paraprofessionals LOS ASISTENTES DE MAESTROS?
You have the right to request information concerning whether your child is provided services by paraprofessionals, and if so, their qualifications. Usted tiene el derecho de solicitar información con respecto a si su hijo recibe servicios de asistentes de maestros, y si es así, su elegibilidad.

12 State Assessments LAS EVALUACIONES DEL ESTADO
You have the right to know about the achievement level of your child in each of the state’s academic assessments – STAAR and End of Course. Our campus provides copies of the Confidential Student Report (CSR) for each student who participates in STAAR and End of Course. Other assessments, such as TELPAS (Texas English Language Proficiency Assessment System) for English language learners and TEEJAS Lee and TPRI, are also shared with parents, if it applies to your child. Usted tiene el derecho de conocer el nivel de logro de su hijo en cada una de las evaluaciones académicas del estado – De STAAR de Exámenes de Fin de Curso. Nuestra escuela ofrece ejemplares del Informe Confidencial del Estudiante (CSR) para cada estudiante que participa en STAAR y en Exámenes de Fin de Curso. 13 Highly Qualified Teachers MAESTROS ALTAMENTE CALIFICADOS
You have the right to know if your child has been assigned to or has been taught for four or more consecutive weeks by a teacher who is not highly qualified as defined by NCLB. Our campus will provide this notice, if applicable. At this time, all teachers meet the highly qualified requirements. Usted tiene el derecho de saber si su hijo ha sido asignado o ha sido enseñado por cuatro o más semanas consecutivas por un maestro que no está altamente cualificado conforme a la ley de NCLB. Each Title I campus must have a Parent Involvement Policy, jointly developed with parents, which includes the following: policy involvement; shared responsibilities for high student academic achievement; building capacity for involvement; and accessibility. We are required to share this policy with you. Each Title I campus must have a School-Parent Compact, jointly developed with parents, which outlines the: School responsibilities Parent/family responsibilities Student responsibilities (secondary schools) We are required to share this School-Parent Compact with you.
