22 Apuntes: Present Progressive
The present progressive is a verb tense that is used to tell what one is doing right now, at this moment; an action that is in progress. The present progressive requires 3 parts in the answer: subject pronoun (yo,tú,él,ella,Ud.,nosotros,ellos,ellas,Uds) a form of the verb estar (to be) yo- estoy (I am) nosotros- estamos (we are) tú- estás (you fam. are) *él ellos *ella está( he,she, you fs. are) ellas están *Ud everyone is/ it is Uds. *Todo el mundo (everyone) *“It” c. the main verb in the participle/gerund form (-ing form) If the verb is an –ar verb, take the last two letters off of the infinitive and add –ando. If the verb is an –er/-ir verb, take the last two letters off of the infinitive and add -iendo THERE ARE NO STEM CHANGES IN THE PRESENT PROGRESSIVE!
