5 Uses of the verb “SER” to be.
1.Used to describe yourself and others or to state your name. Description: Yo soy simpático. Identification (name): Ella es María. 2. Tell your place of origin (where you are from), or your nationality Origin: Tú eres de Nyack. Nationality: Tú eres americano. 3. Used to talk about characteristics of a person, place or thing. Characteristics: Él es alto.

4. Used to tell the time and the date Time: Son las nueve y media. Date: Hoy es martes. 5. State your occupation Occupation: Nosotros somos unos(as) estudiantes. 6. State your relationship to others. Relationship: Ella es amigo(a) de Juan.
