Verbs have a tense (such as the present, past or future) Mood is the attitude of the speaker or writer (such as the indicative mood, where a person reports facts or events considered to be certain) The subjunctive mood expresses hopes and wishes with expressions like: Espero que… Ojalá que… Quiero que …

Form the subjunctive by starting with the “Yo” form of the verb in the present tense. Take off the “O”. 6 So a wish phrase with “que” is followed by the subjunctive form of the verb
Esperamos que ellos vengan pronto. Quiero que Juan me ayude. Ojalá que vivamos en un mundo de paz. Austin quire que tu vengas a su fiesta. Ahora escribe 3 deseos: Ojalá que … Espero que ... Quiero que …

7 Practica: cambia el verbo al subjuntivo.
Ojalá que yo (ganar) un millón de dólares. Quiero que tú (tener) buena suerte en la competencia. Espero que mis estudiantes (recibir) buenas notas en el examencito. Queremos que (ir) a California. Ojalá que tú no (decir) mentiras. Espero que Sra. Paisley nos (dar) pizza mañana.
