10 The imperfect tense: regular verbs
1. The imperfect tense is used to talk about the past, but it has different uses than the preterite (past-tense). 2. The imperfect tense is used to: A. Tell what time it was B. Tell what the weather was like when something happened C. Tell what someone used to do D. Tell what things were like C. Tell about actions that happened repeatedly in the past 3. We do not know exactly if the action is completed. Example: Angélica patinaba. Angélica used to skate.

14 El futuro 1. The future tense can be used to talk about future events.

15 2. It can be used to express the probability of something happening or being true.
-¿Qué hora es? -No sé, serán las cinco de la tarde. 3. It can be used with the present participle to say what is probably going on. Los niños estarán durmiendo. Los estudiantes estarán estudiando.

16 El Condicional 1. It is used to tell what would happen or what someone would do in a given set of circumstances and to say what someone would or would not like. Yo conseguiría un trabajo. 17 2. It is also used with the preterite of decir to epress what someone said he or she would or would not do. Dijeron que vendrían pero mintieron. (would come) Dijo que me amaría hasta el fin del mundo. (would love) 3. It can also be used to express the probability that something happened in the past. Serían las nueve cuando llegaron. It was probably nine when they arrived.

18 4. Some expression that are often used with the condition include: yo que tú, en tu lugar, and en esa situación Yo que tú, lo pensaría muy bien. En tu lugar, lo llamaría por teléfono.
