2 Migration is a social determinant of health
Migrants may travel in precarious conditions, work in riskiest industries, live in unhealthy conditions, and be stigmatized. Inward remittance flow of $64 billion into LAC countries in 2014 (e.g., 23% GDP of Haiti, 17% GDP of Honduras, El Salvador, and Jamaica) Formal and informal barriers to access quality health services and other social protection services

4 140th WHO Executive Board Develop a framework of priorities and guiding principles to promote the health of refugees and migrants in collaboration with IOM and UNHCR and under consultation with Member States. Ensure that health is properly integrated in the Global Compacts for Refugees and for Safe, Orderly and Regular Migration. Analyze the health situation of refugees and migrants in each Region.

Address health inequities that affect migrants and to develop targeted interventions to reduce migrants’ health risks; Lead the effort to modify or improve regulatory and legal frameworks; Advance towards providing migrants with access to the same level and quality of services and financial protection that other people living in the same territory enjoy; Promote action at the bilateral, multilateral, national, and local levels.
