6 Uses of the preterite A single action or a series of actions in the past that are totally completed An event that lasted for a specific period of time that has been completed and of which we usually know the beginning and the end The beginning or the end of an action in the past

7 El pretérito Is one of the past tenses. Tells what happened.
Is a completed action. I called my sister last night. She talked on the phone. The phone rang at 12:30 PM.

8 To find the stem of the verb, remove the -ar, -er, or -ir.
trabajar – trabaj (to work) escirbir - escrib (to write) correr – corr (to run)
