2 Tener-to have Tener means to have. Like ser, there are different forms of the verb to match the subject. Ejemplos: Yo tengo un lápiz. I have a pencil. Ella tiene unas botas cafés. She has some brown boots.

3 Tener (con pronombres)

4 Practiquemos con la ropa Fill in the blank with the correct form of tener.

Note: 1. El pelo= hair Hair is a singular unit and is masculine regardless if the person is male or female. 2. Los ojos= eyes Eyes are masculine plural regardless if the person is male or female.

Color: castaño-brown negro rubio pelirrojo The adjective should match hair in gender and number. So, if you are a female describing your hair, it is your hair you are describing. Therefore, the adjective should be masculine singular.

13 Isn’t ser used to describe oneself and others?
¡Sí! However, keep in mind how ser and tener are different. Ser can also be used to describe hair, but you are not stating I have brown hair, rather, I am brunette. When you use ser, the adjective will match the subject in number and gender like in the example above. When you use tener, the adjective will match the item you have. I have big eyes.  Yo tengo los ojos grandes.

15 Edad-Age Although tener means to have, it is often used in idiomatic expressions as to be. I am _________ years old. Yo tengo ____#____ años. Ejemplo: Yo tengo diez años.
