10 Saber and Conocer Saber and conocer both mean to know, but in a different sense. Saber means to know facts or information. Here are the conjugations of saber in the present tense: YO TÚTÚ ÉL ELLA USTED } NOSOTROS USTEDES ELLOS/AS } sésé sabes sabe sabemos saben

11 For example: Yo sé la respuesta Patricia sabe cuanto cuesta la entrada I know the answer Patricia knows how much the ticket costs. When followed by an infinitive, saber means to know how to do something. For example: Marta y Pedro saben bailar Tú sabes cocinar Marta and Pedro know how to dance You know how to cook

12 Conocer means to know or to be acquainted with (a person or place). Here are the conjugations of conocer in the present tense: YO TÚTÚ NOSOTROS USTEDES ELLOS/AS ÉL ELLA USTED } } conozco conoces conoce conocemos conocen After conocer, use the personal a with people.

14 Y and o The word y (and) changes to e before i- or hi-, in order to avoid repeating the same vowel sound.
