1 Preterite Second Person Singular
The preterite is used to speak about completed actions in the past. Unlike other second person singular forms in Spanish, the preterite tú form does not end in -s. The following lesson will help you practice these conjugations.

2 Second Person Singular Conjugations
Notice the differences among the endings of the following second person singular conjugations. 6 Helpful Hints for Recognizing the Preterite Tense
1. Remember that the preterite describes a completed action, event, or condition, usually within a specific time period. 2. The focus might be on the whole, completed action. Cerraste la puerta. 3. The preterite also might describe the beginning or end of an action. Comenzaste a estudiar a las cinco de la mañana y terminaste a las ocho. 4. Certain phrases signal use of the preterite tense: anoche la semana pasada el año pasado ayer el mes pasado hace + (time period)
