Masculine Nouns Feminine Nouns Refer to male beings. (el señor) End in –o *Except la mano (the hand), la foto (the photo), & la radio (the raido). Numbers (el dos) Days of the week (el lunes) Months of the year (el mayo) Names of rivers, lakes, seas & oceans. Names of mountains and volcanoes. *Words if Greek origin. Refer to female beings. (la señora) End in –a *Except el día (the day) and other words of Greek origin that end in –ma, -ta, & -pa. el programa = the program, el planeta = the planet, el mapa = the map. 11 Plurals If a noun ends in:
1. a vowel, add –s to the end. (Ej: silla → sillas) 2. a consonant, add –es to the end. (Ej: marcador → marcadores) 3. a –z, take away the –z and add –ces to the end. (Ej: lápiz → lápices) 4. –ión, drop the accent and add –es to the end. (Ej: relación → relaciones)
