El 2 de noviembre ESPAÑOL 1—ACC MIÉRCOLES El día de los muertos Per 1, 2, 3 Answer question: Why are we learning about el día de los muertos? When you understand a culture’s perspectives (views and beliefs), you can better understand their literature, art, and way of life. People who appreciate and value their own culture and personal histories as well as the values and traditions of others are open-minded and that open-mindedness is the foundation upon which we can become a more accepting and peaceful world.

6 Using what you learned through the movie yesterday, what do you think is the purpose or message of this short film? We fear the unknown so we fear death. Losing someone is sad so death is associated with sadness. If you accept death as a natural part of the life cycle, it can be less scary. If you believe that there is an afterlife, you can come to terms with your sadness because you have hope that you will see your loved ones again. You can keep the spirt of your loved ones alive in your heart by remembering all the good times you shared and in this way they can be closer now than they were before.

7 Distribute handout for the movie on El Día de los Muertos (25 mins) that you watched yesterday.
(Still need to finish going over the answers to the questions with per 3.)
