3 Transcripción del cuento Un día Juan decidió viajar a la luna. Salió de su casa un miércoles por la mañana rumbo a la estación espacial, la cual en ese momento estaba orbitando la tierra. Pensaba que podía encontrar algún cohete por allí para que lo llevara a la superficie de la luna. “¿Dónde encontraré un cohete espacial?” dijo a sí mismo. De repente salió un gato hablador de la alcantarilla. “¡Hola Juan!” le maulló el gato. “Pero, ¡qué!” respondió Juan, un poco pasmado y atónito. “¿Qué te pasa, nunca viste un gato hablador antes de ahora?” “Pues, ¡claro que no! ¡Me siento enfermo, como que tengo ganas de vomitar!” gritó Juan. “No tienes que vomitar; de hecho te puedo ayudar,” propuso el gato. “¿Tú, un gato hablador? Lo dudo,” murmuró Juan. “En serio, voy a vomitar…” “¡En serio! ¡Sígueme, ahora vamos!” gritó el gato. Juan asintió, un poco sumisamente y muy resignadamente, y empezó a seguirlo por una pradera. Después de deambular unas 2 ó 3 horas, llegaron a un claro en el centro de la pradera. Allí Juan divisó un pequeño objeto metálico. “Pero, ¿qué es esa cosa?” le preguntó al gato. “¿Qué dices tonto?” replicó el gato, “¡pero ese es el cohete espacial!” “¡Ay, no!” gritó Juan, desesperado, “¡Me llevaste a un cohete para gatos! ¡Allí yo no quepo!” ¡Pobre Juan!

7 Do we have this conjugation thing in English in the past tense?! Why yes. Yes we do. Example: to do I didwe did you didyou (all) did he / she / it didthey did

8 Uhhh….that’s literally the same word every time with just the people in front of it changing.

9 So Spanish is harder!? Yep. But at least in Spanish you can only pronounce letters one way. Think about this word in English: tear How do you say it! Who knows!

10 Preterit of regular verbs Two sets of endings for the three types of Spanish verbs: -ar -é-amos -aste -ó-aron -er / -ir -í-imos -iste -ió-ieron

11 So… With the verb vivir, to say that “he lived” somewhere, you go to the “he” form and say: (él) vivió What about “we ate”? That’s right!: comimos etc.

12 That’s not so bad. That’s it, right? Wrong.

13 Verbs that change form –i to –y This happens with all –er and –ir verbs that have a vowel before the –er and –ir (they also have accents in the tú and nosotros forms [except –uir verbs]) : creer – to believe creícreímos creíste creyócreyeron oír – to hear oíoímos oíste oyóoyeron
