Se registra automáticamente en el DNS interno para ser encontrado por los Vista y WS2008.

En este escenario se migraran todos los servidores a Windows Server 2008. El proyecto puede ser estratégico y de gran valor añadido si se decide no solo migrar si no rediseñar la arquitectura aprovechando las nuevas funcionalidades de Windows Server 2008. La estabilidad, seguridad y funcionalidades de Windows Server 2008, la consolidación de servidores con Hyper-V y la valoración de System Center como solución a los problemas del día a día, pueden ser los pilares de una nueva IT.

25 ¿Como?, despliegue Escenario 3: Inicialmente solo nuevos servidores.
Permite empezar a aprovechar las ventajas de Windows Server 2008, desde el primer proyecto que se realice. Los servidores Windows Server 2008 pueden ser miembros de directorios activos de versiones anteriores.

Actualización de servidores: Siempre es preferible una instalación nueva que una actualización. La versión mínima actualizable es Windows Server 2003 SP1. No se puede aprovechar la actualización para cambiar entre arquitecturas x86 o x64. No se pueden actualizar las versiones Itanium. No se puede migrar desde o hacia ediciones Web.

Funcionamiento. El proceso de actualización de un servidor es diferente al usado hasta ahora y esta basado en el mismo principio que la actualización en Vista. Anteriormente los ficheros del nuevo sistema operativo, se copiaban encima de los antiguos, dejando intactas las configuraciones, datos, etc. En Windows Server 2008 el nuevo sistema se instala en paralelo y a continuación se migran los datos, configuraciones, etc. Al final se borra el sistema operativo antiguo.

Proceso de actualización I: El setup copia las fuentes al HD. Se revisa si existen actualizaciones para el setup y para la BD de compatibilidad. Se revisa si el sistema operativo actual esta soportado para actualizar. Informe de compatibilidad y aviso de backup. Se revisa si hay drivers o componentes nuevos. Se desempaqueta la imagen en el HD. Se identifica el System State, ficheros de usuarios, drivers, etc.

Proceso de actualización II: Se extraen los ficheros de arranque WinPE al HD. Se reinicia el servidor y arranca ya en WinPE. Los ficheros del antiguo SO son movidos a una cuarentena especial. Se recolecta información sobre las cuentas locales. Se instala una versión language-neutral y despues el MUI apropiado. Se instalan los componentes necesarios en función de la configuración del SO Antiguo.

Proceso de actualización III: Se configuran las ACL. Instalación de las actualizaciones. Se configuran las cuentas locales y el nombre de maquina. Instalación de drivers. User Profiles. Aplicación del System State y migración de datos. Aplicación de parámetros incluidos en ficheros de instalación desatendida Borrado de ficheros de la cuarentena.

Importante: Introducir el DVD con Windows 2003 arrancado. Asegúrate antes: Compatibilidad, servicios etc. Backups, mirrors, VM, etc. Si quieres actualizar un DC tendrás que preparar primero el AD.
