The imperfect uses: The imperfect tense is used for several reasons, including: Describing a person, place or situation. Alberto era un niño travieso. La casa de mis abuelos era grande, con muchas ventanas.

The imperfect uses: Describing an action that has no indicated beginning or end. Jugabamos al fútbol norteamericano. Elisa cantaba.

Introduction For now, dont worry about when you would use the imperfect. Todays focus is on conjugating the imperfect. The imperfect tense is comparatively simple. It only has three irregular verbs.

The imperfect tense uses the following endings for all –ar verbs: Yo - aba Nosotros - ábamos Tú - abas -------- Él, ella, ud. - aba Ellos, ustedes - aban

Regular –ar Verbs in the Imperfect Remember, the only form with an accent is the nosotros. Since the yo and the él/ella/usted forms are identical, use the subject pronouns to avoid confusion.
