4 -Each time students hear you say a certain word/phrase/use certain verb tense, etc., they must be the first to stand up to receive a point that is tallied on the board. Points can later be redeemed for extra credit. -Promotes active listening skills, processing, & active participation -Well-suited for grammar (past tense, subjunctive, future tense, etc.), vocabulary -Healthy competition among students!They get into it!

6 -Students work in small groups -Students alternate between the 2 roles of runner and writer -Students write sentences or answer questions (one question at a time). -Runner brings answer to teacher and pronounces it. -First group with correct answer/response wins the square. Group with the most squares wins.
