1 Student Engagement Resources Honduras- Language Key Spanish Words and Phrases Key Spanish Words & Phrases Some things to keep in mind: Generally, pronounce every letter that you see in each word An h before any vowel is generally silent (especially at the beginning of a word) A double l (ll) is usually pronounced like a y in English An ñ is pronounced like a -ny- in English (ex: niño sounds like neen-yo) A ge- combination often sounds like an he- combination in English *Bold syllables denote emphasis/accent on that syllable.
