5 Nouns o Nouns that end in –o are generally masculine. o -> el chico –a ción-sión-dad Nouns that end in –a, - ción, -sión, -dad are generally feminine. a -> la chica ción -> la pronunciación sión -> la misión dad -> la posibilidad

6 Nouns Note: Some nouns do not follow these patterns: –el día –el programa –la noche –la mano –ma-pa– ta Many Spanish nouns that end in –ma, -pa, and – ta are derived from Greek and are usually masculine: ma –el drama pa –el mapa ta –el planeta –el problema
