Thank you for the opportunity to talk to you today about the WaveLink software products. The way that we like to describe WaveLink is that it’s a software platform enabling the rapid development of wireless LAN applications. , install and manage the Symbol wireless networks and provide access to any host system out there. 3 MANEJO DE DISPOSITIVOS
Plataforma Wavelink Permite el desarrollo rapido de aplicaciones inalámbricas robustas. Maneja la comunicacion entre el Servidor de Aplicaciones y los Dispositivos Soporta los Lenguajes de Aplicación y los Sistemas Operativos mas importantes Provee conectividad con Sistemas Host, Mainframes IBM, AS/400 y Unix. MANEJO DE REDES This slide shows the three main product areas of WaveLink. They are development tools, host access products and network management products. [1st click} In the area of Development Products, there are two products: WaveLink Studio and Design Studio, which will be released in Q1 of 2000. [2nd click] For host access, WaveLink ActiveBridge provides full terminal emulation and host connectivity. [3rd click] Finally, in the area of Network Management, WaveLink has two products: WaveLink SNC for Spectrum One systems and WaveLink SNC24 for Spectrum24 systems. Provee capacidad de sincronizacion. For many of our customers, this is important. Applications that were written on Spectrum One systems, run today on Spectrum24 systems without code modification.

This approach has been very beneficial for our customers as they have benefited from the tremendous technology advances that Microsoft has put in place with their NT server infrastructure. We completely take advantage of the built-in services that we get with the evolving NT systems. Included in this is the basic multi-tasking capability built into the NT operating system. With WaveLink keeping track of all of the handheld devices means setting up a unique instance for each handheld. Rather than duplicate what NT already does, we let NT handle multitasking on the handhelds. Same thing for security. We take advantage of the evolving security features of the NT platform from Microsoft. The other thing that this slide points out is that besides NT-resident WaveLink applications, we can enable connectivity to virtually any host system out including AS400, mainframes, VAX systems and Unix databases including Oracle, Informix and Sybase. One of the extra WaveLink products that we also have is a telnet service that can run on NT. This is called Telnet D. It enables NT to run VT emulations. So you can now, with TelnetD installed, run a character-based application on the NT box.

11 Cliente de Emulación Los emuladores WaveLink Server-Side proveen soporte para una gran variedad de las emulaciones mas populares, utilizando un Cliente único. Los días de instalar múltiples emulaciones en Terminales de Mano se acabaron. El cliente de Emulación también significa que otras opciones quedan abiertas Usted puede utilizar hoy solamente emulación VT, pero podría necesitar emulación 5250 en el futuro. 15 Integración de Datos A través del uso de macros, usted puede lograr una integración real de la data con múltiples Host. Por ejemplo, en unas pocas líneas de código, usted podrá fácilmente convertir un UPC escaneado a un numero de parte interno, verificar ente en un Mainframe y luego pasar el resultado a una sesión de emulación. Now we move to the WaveLink r Host Access product: ActiveBridge. ActiveBridge provides you with the “Next Generation” of terminal emulation. ActiveBridge comes in various flavors. We support VT 100, VT 220, 3270 and 5250 and screen remapping. What makes this a next generation product is the terminal emulation is “Server Side.” Throughout the next few slides I will highlight some key features that illustrate why a product like ActiveBridge is superior to the old method of terminal resident TE.

18 Integracion a Sistemas Heredados
ODBC DB UP1C Lookup UNIX AS400 MAINFRAME Multiple Host connectivity: With ActiveBridge you can use VT100 or any of the other emulations individually. If your IT infrastructure is spread over multiple hosts you can use ActiveBridge to simultaneously connect to dissimilar hosts!! This slide illustrates a company that uses an IBM Mainframe for corporate accounting data, an AS 4000 for warehouse location information and a UNIX system for product cross-reference lookups. I would hope that you do not expect the poor guy in the warehouse to try and run three different applications on the RFT. With ActiveBridge you can provide an application that manages a realtime connection to all three of these systems, from one RFT application. The user in the warehouse sees one applications and has no idea he is talking simultaneously using 3270, 5250 and VT. Here’s a typical scenario; Product comes in and is received against a PO that is located on the mainframe. This process opens a 3270 session toe the mainframe. The next step is to have the warehouse management application that reside on the AS/400 tell the user where to put the product in the warehouse. This opens a 5250 session on the AS/400. The next scenario is the user scans a barcode that does not exist in his database so his application opens a cross-reference table in UNIX to provide him with his equivalent part number. This opens a VT220 session to the UNIX system. The user now has three different emulations running simultaneous. All he knows is he is running a receiving/putaway application:> Lograda con el uso de aplicaciones existentes!

WaveLink make this a simple task. With a few clicks of the mouse SNC24 is installed and running. The SNC24 can also be easily installed over a WAN allowing you to install software without spending unnecessary time and expenses traveling to remote locations. Once installed, SNC24 will automatically detect the Access Points and add the AP’s to the administration window. From here you can click on the AP and completely configure the Access Point. It can be setup to automatically configure your Access Points. The profile that has been set up for all of your wireless networks can be set to serve an IP address automatically, distributing unique IP addresses from a pre-set list of available IP addresses. It can be used to configure the ESS ID address, which is SNC24 can be used to set up security for your system. The SNC24 runs as a true NT service so the AP is always working for you to detect and configure your RF backbone. Spectrum24 Work

The MAC address is hard coded to the RFT as part of the manufacturing process. <CASE STUDY> A large retailer in the UK has an automated process to enter the MAC address of each RFT every morning, at each location to set up security tables on a daily basis.
