The direct object Direct object: the person/ thing that DIRECTLY receives the action of a verb. –Answers the question “who?”/ “what?” (can usually be found just after the conjugated verb in a sentence!) ej) He kicked the floor. verb: kicked direct object: the floor (Question:“what”did he kick? Answer:The floor)

II. The direct object pronoun (DOP) Direct object pronoun: a word that replaces the direct object in a sentence ej) He kicked the floor. DOP: it (He kicked it.)

IV. Placement A)Sentence with one conjugated verb in the clause: DOP goes BEFORE the conjugated verb. Ej) Siempre llevo bronceador cuando tomo el sol. Siempre lo llevo cuando tomo el sol. Ej.) Mi hermana tiene mucha ropa de verano. Mi hermana la tiene.

V. Placement Cont’d B. Sentence with a conjugated verb and an infinitive verb: In this case, there are 2 options 1. DOP goes BEFORE the CONJUGATED verb Ej) Quiero sacar unas fotos del bosque tropical. Las quiero sacar. 2. DOP is ATTACHED to the INFINITIVE verb Ej) Quiero sacarlas.

VI. Practicamos… Find the direct object in each sentence and replace it with the appropriate DOP. Raul no quiere llevar bronceador en la playa. Simona y Marisol usan unas toallas después de nadar. Siempre miramos la televisión cuando llueve. Enrique prefiere alquilar videos de comedia. Canto una canción alegre cuando estoy triste.
