2 ¡Classroom Vocabulary Scavenger Hunt! Purpose Introduce new vocabulary words in TL Identify items using only the TL Review and practice vocabulary words in TL Basic description writing in TL

3 ¿Why Should I use this activity?  Allows for exclusive use of Target Language  Accommodates for a WIDE range of learners  Step-By-Step Learners  Provides a series of instructions and actions for each student to follow and complete.  Social Learners  Allows for students to interact with each other and the teacher during the assignment.  Curious Learners  Students get to get up, move around the class and investigate different objects.  Creative Learners  Students get to create their own sketch for each vocabulary word as well as create their own description for the item.

4  This Activity can be altered in many ways.  You could easily provide a spot for students to write in the English for the new vocabulary, this could be especially useful/beneficial for learners who do not benefit from the hands on aspect of the activity.  You can do this vocabulary hunt with most vocabulary sets. The teacher can either bring in physical items or print out pictures  For BRAND NEW vocabulary:  Instead of having the vocabulary listed on the handout you could have pictures of the items. Students would have to find the item and obtain the name from the labeled classroom item.

5 Instrucciones por la clase en Español Para empezar cada persona necesita una hoja. (Hand out worksheets to each student) Cada hoja tiene cuatro columnas. En la primera columna por la izquierda que dice “Artículo” hay una palabra de vocabulario. Ustedes pueden encontrar cada uno de estos artículos de vocabulario dentro de este clase o aula. Cada artículo tiene un numero en la parte superior. (Point out the numbers that you have put on the different items in the class) Se necesitan escribir el numero que está en la parte superior del artículo en la segunda columna que dice “Numero”. (Complete one for the students)

6 Instrucciones por la clase en Español Siguiente, después de encontrar el artículo y el numero, en la tercera columna que dice “Dibujo” dibuja una imagine del artículo en el espacio. (Point the column out to students and draw an example for them on the board of one of the items) Después de dibujar el imagine y tener el numero, regresa a su sillas. Entonces, en el última columna que dice “Propósito o Uso” escribe algunos palabras que describe un uso o propósito del artículo. (On the board, write out two different examples for students of uses for one of the items)
